A nice little park with a short easy hike. Mid-July is when the a rhododendrons bloom, unfortunately when we visited we missed the peak. It's still worth the visit though. Beware the bathroom though, it's a pit toilet in some need of love.
Nice and small, very limited parking, short trails or 1-3 miles. It's a botanical park so don't expect lakes or large water bodies. Blooming season is in July and hence the best time to visit. Couple of benches as Picnic area, no campfire or fire. Not pet friendly. Mosquitoes might not bother if you keep moving.
Bloom is done for the 2020 season!
Just caught the tail end of the blooms this season.
Great place for a good hike thru the Rhododendrons. Some of the trails are UNDER the rhododendrons!
Very easy hikes, up to 2 miles of trails.
Mosquitoes not bad if you keep moving. Will ocasionally run across those pesky deer flies!
Nice trails, even in October; the rhododendrons stay green but there are other trees that turn color, and some good late season birdwatching.
We love the First Day Hikes. Even without flowers, this is a beautiful park. Our dog loved it too!
Great place for a short walk. Seems like there's a lot of shade so the number of blossoms was not as much as I expected.
Beautiful. Full of mosquitos late June, come prepared but be kind to nature by not spraying deet on the rest of creatures. Like our two new friends. Good long hike up to little Mt. Monadnock.
This a a fun adventure hike for all ages. It is a short easy walk around over and through a beautiful spread of rhododendrons and other flora. A great place for a peaceful and quiet stroll amid some beautiful blooms. Best a full bloom for maximum splendor, a real gem to visit.
8 July and there's just a first round of blooms, lots of new leaves and some buds. Worth another look in a week or two, but still a nice cool shady walk on easy paths.
The Rhododendrons had not bloomed yet but walked the park nonetheless. It was a nice easy walk with a few low hanging branches. It seems like it would be difficult for a wheelchair to be pushed through. I am looking forward to going back when the flowers are in bloom in July.
